Stem Cell Therapy
The Florida Knee and Orthopedic Center the Stem Cell Therapy is a Same-Day Process. FKOC has defined this a same-day procedure, since the stem cells are collected from the patient and then injected into the injured area on the same day.
Stem Cell TREATMENT FAQS
During your office visit for the stem cell therapy procedure. The doctor will thoroughly numb the back of the hip and take a small bone marrow sample through a needle. The procedure used by our doctor is referred to as a bone marrow aspirate. Not to be confused with a bone marrow biopsy, which is painful to many patients. This will then be sent to our lab and prepared for the injection into the injured area.
While the cell sample is processed by our Lab Technician, you will be able to relax for a short time. Once your stem cell sample has completed processing it is time to continue the second portion of the process, the doctor will now inject your stem cells into the injured area.
Our goal is to speed up the healing process by delivering a much larger number of stem cells to the injured area than your body will deliver under normal circumstances. This same day procedure is available at both of our locations.
In order to provide the best possible outcome to our patients our doctor may suggest that your Stem Cell therapy procedure be paired with our Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) procedure.
